How to Read a Wholesale Line Sheet Like a Buyer

A line sheet looks simple — photos, prices, minimums — but experienced buyers read it in a specific order, and it saves them money.

First, the minimum order quantity and pack structure. MOQ tells you the size of the commitment; the pack step tells you how the stock actually ships. A low unit price behind a huge MOQ is not a bargain if it ties up your cash.

Second, the price breaks. Tiered pricing rewards volume — knowing where the next break sits lets you decide whether nudging your order up a tier is worth it.

Third, condition and origin. "A1" or first-quality is not the same as graded or returned stock, and EEA origin matters for both duty and authenticity. A good line sheet states both plainly.

Only then do the photos matter. Great imagery sells, but the numbers decide whether the deal works for your business. On VESTRA, every listing surfaces MOQ, pack size, tiers and condition up front — so you can read the deal in seconds and message the seller with the right question.

Read the line sheet in the order the risk sits, not the order it is printed. Availability first: quantities that are on hand behave differently from quantities described as incoming, and a sheet that does not distinguish the two is telling you something in itself. Then the size curve, because a good unit price on a broken curve is not a good buy. Only then the price.

Watch for what the sheet leaves out. No lot or batch reference means you cannot tie a reorder to the goods you already have. No stated country of stock means your landed cost is a guess. No size breakdown per colour means the breakdown is either unflattering or unknown, and both are worth asking about before you commit.

A line sheet is also a document you can negotiate against, which buyers forget. If the curve is wrong for your customers, ask for a different split rather than accepting the printed one — sellers holding depth can often build a custom breakdown at the same price. The sheet is an opening position, not a menu.

Finally, keep the sheets you receive. Comparing this season's against last season's from the same seller tells you whether their pricing is drifting, whether their range is thinning, and whether the styles you rely on are quietly being dropped. That is information no single sheet can give you.
